Here is a story I simply had to pass along.
Barbie fishing rod reels in record-setting catfish is the title and it starts like this:
David Hayes doesn’t usually fish with a pink Barbie rod and reel, but when his 3-year-old granddaughter Alyssa handed him her fishing pole, he used it to haul in a state record channel catfish.
While it might be a bit embarrassing for a grown man to admit using Barbie equipment, there was nothing shabby in the prize that pink pole landed.
Excerpt:
At 32 inches long and 22 1/2 inches around, the fish was 2 inches longer than the fishing rod. Hayes was trying to land the 21-pound fish on a 6-pound test line.
From this writer’s perspective – this one earns a place in the Campfire Stories Hall of Fame.
Congratulations, David!!
