Dennis, a good friend, forwarded an ENewsletter from Wyoming Game & Fish to me the other day and I thought it important enough to pass on.
Irresponsible Hunter Behavior Closes Popular Hunting Access Areas is the title and it starts like this:
Hunters should be aware that the Beer Mug Hunter Management Area north of Medicine Bow has been closed to public access for 2008.
“Anyone hoping to apply for an elk area 16 license needs to be aware this HMA will not be available and plan accordingly,” said Matt Buhler, statewide access coordinator for the Game and Fish Department.
Once again, the idiots within our ranks created problems and landowners reduced their evaluation of us all to the lowest common denominator.
Excerpt:
The Beer Mug HMA had been in place since 2005 and opened 34,880 private acres for hunters through 185 permission slips. It was a popular hunting area and offered a late-season elk hunt in an area with many trophy-sized elk. A few hunters chose not to show their appreciation and instead caused the landowners to rethink their generosity.
The article highlights specific instances of inappropriate behavior, the kind of things we should all be ashamed to hear about.
And one landowner asked the most intelligent question.
“What happened to common courtesy?”
I have my own theories on the answer to that question but the bottom line is disgusting—courtesy is no longer common…
