Stupid Poacher Award

Just when you think you have seen stupidity at its best someone will step up to the plate and hit a new home run. This poacher has set the bar well above the level of his IQ.

“DOE! Hunter nailed for bolting antlers to deer”: is the title of this story and it starts like this:

_A 10-point antler rack, bolted and glued to the head of a slain doe last fall, raised the blaze-orange flag of state game wardens._

_But ultimately it was poor sportsmanship — not his skill with hand tools — that nailed Marcel Fournier, 19, of Concord in the prosecution’s case._

Believe it or not, this guy was poaching deer and decided the best way to get this particular doe past the check station was to dress it up like a buck.

His genius did not translate well to his taxidermy work.

_Anecdotes about add-on antlers have circulated among wildlife professionals for generations, said Col. David LeCours, chief warden of the Fish and Wildlife Department. To LeCours’ knowledge, this is the first documented case in Vermont. His colleagues were not impressed by the craftsmanship of the state’s first confirmed phony._

“_The people who have examined this thing say Fournier took some time on the job, with epoxy and lag screws and so on, but it didn’t hold that well, which was his undoing,” he said._

Once again we have proof positive that Darwin was wrong. Let’s just hope he doesn’t produce any future Einsteins…
